Delight Mahalko "Helped Shape NW Ski Areas & Industry" For 33 years Delight worked as Administrative Assistant (right hand!) with Mel Borgersen as a ski area consultant. She was involved with the planning and
development of more than 100 ski areas in the Western U.S., Alaska, B.C., New Zealand and Australia. In the early sixties, she helped get the then struggling Crystal Mountain Ski area off the ground. Delight served on the Crystal Mountain Board of Directors for 15 years, five as Treasurer. She gave early support and administrative guidance for the Crystal Mountain Alpine Club. She served for more
than 25 years as Executive Secretary of the Pacific Northwest Ski Areas Association, and currently serves on the board of the Ancient Skiers Association. Delight and husband, Harvey, continue to ski each winter and enjoy the "beautiful grooming and other new amenities" at Crystal. She is also a former board member and Secretary/Treasurer of the Washington State Ski Industries Association; and a former board
member of Ski Alliance Northwest. Today, Delight is recognized as one of the region's most respected ski executives and historians. |
